The City College of Ormoc, through the College of Arts and Sciences โ€“ Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and the College of Business and Governance โ€“ Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA), proudly conducted the Field Instruction/On-the-Job Training (OJT) Pinning and Vesting Ceremony on July 7, 2026, culminating at Robinsons Place Ormoc.

This activity marked a defining milestone in the lives of our 129 graduating interns as they transitioned from academic preparation to professional practice. The Pinning and Vesting Ceremony formally recognized their readiness to embark on supervised field instruction and on-the-job training, signifying the beginning of their professional journey.

The Meaning Behind the “Plumeria in Morph” Pin. More than an emblem, the “Plumeria in Morph” pin embodies the aspirations, identity, and transformation of every intern. Inspired by two iconic symbols of Ormoc Cityโ€”the Ormocana Butterfly and the Kalachuchi (Plumeria)โ€”the pin beautifully reflects the values of growth, resilience, freedom, and transformation. The Plumeria symbolizes the blooming of every student, representing the unfolding of their purpose, talents, and limitless potential as they prepare to serve others with compassion and excellence. The Butterfly Wing signifies metamorphosisโ€”the remarkable transition from learners inside the classroom to future professionals ready to embrace the realities of the workplace and contribute meaningfully to society.

The program commenced with an inspiring message from the newly installed Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sandra Lynn A. Baybay, who reminded the students to always uphold the core values of the City College of Ormoc wherever they may be assigned.

The College also extends its heartfelt appreciation to its distinguished keynote speakers for sharing valuable insights and professional experiences.

Mr. Eduard Canares, RSW, Social Welfare Officer III of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region VIII โ€“ Pang-abot Program, challenged the Bachelor of Science in Social Work interns to build a strong professional identity that reflects the excellence of the City College of Ormoc. His inspiring call to “Carve CCO!” encouraged students to leave a meaningful and lasting mark wherever their profession takes them.

Meanwhile, Ms. Erla Grace Talaboc, Recruitment Manager for the Ormoc and Merida sites of Virtual Staffing Solutions, inspired both BSSW and BSOA interns to embrace adaptability and lifelong learning. She encouraged students to remain open to new opportunities and challenges as they build their careers.

This meaningful event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration programs under the leadership of Ms. Lalaine G. Golong, BSOA Program Head; Ms. Amelyn L. Laro, RSW, MASW, BSSW Program Head; and Mr. Domingo A. Salubre Jr., RSW, LPT, MSSW, BSSW Field Instruction Coordinator, whose dedication and teamwork ensured the successful implementation of this milestone activity.

The College likewise expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Aga Galabo, Vice President for Administration who extended the closing remarks; Ms. Jenny Marx Apit, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Ira Bantasan, BPA Program Head; Ms. Mary Ann Cobico, BS Psychology faculty member; faculty members, parents, partner agencies, and institutional stakeholders for their invaluable support in preparing the next generation of ethical, competent, and service-oriented professionals.

Congratulations to our BSSW and BSOA Interns!

As you wear the “Plumeria in Morph” pin with pride, may it always remind you that true professionalism is measured not only by knowledge and competence but also by integrity, compassion, humility, justice and an unwavering commitment to serve. Your journey from the classroom to the internship begins today. Carry the name of the City College of Ormoc with honor, excellence, and heart. CARVE CCO!
